Biobased Maine has just returned from San Francisco, where we joined other Maine stakeholders to promote Maine’s assets and emerging bioeconomy for investment at the annual Advanced Bioeconomy Leadership Conference on Next-Gen Technologies and Markets (ABLC NEXT).

ABLC NEXT is the premier national industry conference, consisting of seven conferences in one: The Advanced Biofuels Summit, The Renewable Chemicals & Biomaterials Summit, The Advanced Agriculture Summit, The Advanced Nutrition Summit, The Sustainable Aviation Summit, The Biogas & RNG Summit, and The NEXT Technologies Summit.

At ABLC NEXT, we networked with investors, policymakers, end-use customers, and channel and development partners of the newest technologies of the advanced bioeconomy.

We discussed the exciting potential of Maine’s vast forest resource, existing industrial infrastructure, and skilled workforce with many companies including Velocys, a company making biofuels from woody biomass, Arbiom, a company making fish feed from wood, and MetGen, an industrial enzyme manufacturer with technology to make high-value lignin products. We returned from this captivating conference with new leads and connections for advancing Maine’s bioeconomy.
