Please welcome the newest member of Biobased Maine, Wagner Forest Management. Wagner was founded by Fred Wagner in the late 1950s, before the concept of environmental responsibility had widely entered the public discourse. The company began creating partnerships by which individuals and organizations could invest in timberland assets, understanding from the start the symbiotic relationship between forest management and long-term investment value.

Wagner’s business philosophy is “to provide superior natural resource investment and management services. Rooted in stewardship; growing value and opportunity.” This emphasis on stewardship and value growth has guided the company as it grew into the regional leader in sustainable forest management that it is today: Wagner currently manages 2.5 million acres of forest in the Northeast U.S. and Eastern Canada, including 1.1 million acres in the state of Maine.

Wagner is committed to the practice of sustainable forestry, and all of those 2.5 million acres are managed using sustainable forestry techniques—earning Wagner certifications from the Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®) and/or the Sustainable Forestry Initiative®(SFI) programs.
